BURNED AND BROKEN MARK HARDIE

A DEAD GIRL

A MURDERED POLICEMAN

A CRIME WORTH KILLING FOR?

A vulnerable young woman, fresh out of the care system, is trying to discover the truth behind the sudden death of her best friend.
The charred body of a policeman – currently the subject of an internal investigation – is found in the burnt-out-shell of his car on the Southend seafront.
To DS Frank Pearson and DC Catherine Russell of the Essex Police Major Investigation Team, the two events seem unconnected. But as they dig deeper into their colleague’s murder, dark secrets begin to emerge.
Can Pearson and Russell solve both cases, before more lives are destroyed?
THE FIRST FEW LINES OF THE PROLOGUE
Coming back into conscious… his senses gradually returning… but they are piecemeal, disjointed… disconnected. Both from him and from each other. His sight fogged. A red mist viewed through half-closed lids too heavy to lift. A steering wheel. A dashboard. The bottom of the windscreen. Momentarily he was confused. Back in the other car, the passenger door swinging to and fro. The lights of the radio still on, though he couldn’t hear it above the ringing in his ears. The smoke from the discharged shotgun drifting through the interior of the car.The numbing cold spreading through his body as he bled out…
MY REVIEW
I loved the sticker on the front of this cover. Love this or your money back. I certainly loved reading Burned And Broken by Mark Hardie. I think a lot of readers are going to love this book too. I can’t honestly see anyone wanting their money back. What’s even more special about this author Mark Hardie is that he began writing full time after losing his eyesight in 2002. He has even completed a creative writing course and an advanced creative writing course at the Open University, both with distinction.
