After Quinn’s boyfriend, Trent, dies in an accident their junior year, she reaches out to the recipients of his donated organs in hopes of picking up the fragments of her now-unrecognizable life. But whoever received Trent’s heart has chosen to remain silent. The essence of a person, Quinn has always believed, is in the heart. If she finds Trent’s, then in a way, she will still have a piece of him.
Risking everything to get closure once and for all, Quinn goes outside the system to track down nineteen-year-old Colton Thomas, whose life has been forever changed by this priceless gift. But what starts as an accidental run-in quickly develops into something more, sparking an undeniable attraction. She doesn’t want to give in to it-especially since he has no idea how they’re connected-but the time Quinn spends with Colton makes her feel alive again. No matter how hard she’s falling for Colton, though, each beat of his heart reminds her of all she’s lost …and all that remains at stake.
Things We Know by Heart should be turned into a film.
I loved reading this story. What I liked about the story is that it was an emotional story on a subject that I don’t think any other author has ever gone before.
In Things We Know by Heart, Quinn Sullivan lost the love of her life when her boyfriend, Trent died unexpectedly. A year later through finding a blog she has finally tracked down the boy who Trent’s heart was donated to. But she never really meant to meet him. By chance Quinn meets up with nineteen year-old Colton Thomas who spent the last several years in and out of hospitals waiting for a heart transplant. Now that he’s finally received a new heart, Colton is regaining strength. He doesn’t want to know about the person who had to die so that he could live. It is not long and Quinn and Colton seem to be falling in love with each other. But there are so many things Colton doesn’t know. The story has loss and guilt, secrets and lies. Life and death, guilt and forgiveness. And love. Always love. I highly recommend this book to all readers and if you enjoyed The Fault In Our Stars then you will sure enjoy Things We Know by Heart by fabulous author Jessi Kirby.
