Madeline Whittier is allergic to the outside world. So allergic, in fact, that she has never left the house in all of her seventeen years. But when Olly moves in next door, and wants to talk to Maddie, tiny holes start to appear in the protective bubble her mother has built around her.
“Everything, Everything” is about the thrill and heartbreak that happens when we break out of our shell to do crazy, sometimes death-defying things for love.
My review
Everything Everything is Nicola Yoon’s first novel. What I adored about this book is Nicola Yoon’s sense of humor shines through. I thought this giddy love story was very well written. Maddy Whittier suffers from SCID. For seventeen years she hasn’t left her house, anything can trigger a bout of sickness. With staying in the house she surrounds her life with books and she likes to spy on the neighbour Olly. The first contact Maddy makes to Olly is by email where they strike up a bond. This is an extraordinary first novel about love.
